Dr. Kelly Brown enjoyed the ICPEL Conference in Aliso Viejo, California. She presented two sessions that were both in the top five most viewed at the conference. In addition, she was elected to the Board of Directors for a three year term (2019-2020). The networking, research, learning and growth were unparalleled. We strongly urge you to check out ICPEL 202 in Denver, Colorado! Look them up at icpel.org
Dr. Brown had the pleasure to work with campus and teacher leaders to discuss and engage in issues around trauma sensitivity, trauma informed approaches, and de-escalation. It was conducted as a trainer of trainer (TOT) model. Each participant was able to walk away and continue the learning and growth on their campuses. It was a true pleasure.
I was excited to be accepted to present at ASCD’s Empower 19 Conference. It is always great fun and great learning when I am working with Dr. Deirdre Williams. We had a great response from the reviews and were able to connect to other educators focused on equity.
I was so honored to have been awarded the Inspirational Woman Award by the Office of Global Diversity and Inclusive Excellence at Lamar University. The nominees were all accomplished and quality group of woman that I was happy to be associated with. It was a wonderful experience and I truly appreciate everyone who has supported me in my career journey.
I had a wonderful time participating in a substantive panel discussion about equity and the effects of Brown v. Board of Education. Then educators shared their research on how to move the needle for black children. It was a powerful time spending space with people truly dedicated to see black children realize their true potential.
