I truly enjoyed the 2018 Texas Alliance of Black School Educators conference in Houston. I was honored to present "From Sleep to Woke: Equity Consciousness a Way of Being for the African American Learner." I was also able to listen to and advise current doctoral students to help create change in schools. If you haven't been, make 2019 your year!
Much Thanks to Dr. Deirdre Williams for putting together a wonderful conference on behalf of the Harris County Department of Education. I was invited to moderate a panel of experts regarding the need for urgency to address academic outcomes. I was proud to be a part of panelists that were sharing so much wisdom! ~Kelly
What an honor it was to speak at the TEPI/TASA/TABSE collaborative pre-conference institute regarding academic performance and equity. I was able to share important data and lead a discussion of legislative priorities for the group. Thank you to Mike Morath, Commissioner of Education for TEA and District 13 representative Boris Miles for taking part. More collaborations will be born out of the work from today.
Truly enjoyed my partnership with High Point University's College of Education to support Texas schools. Thank you High Point for the donations and support for the areas hurt during Hurricane Harvey. #TexasProud #HoustonStrong
